The story is that, a long time ago, Gagantua, tired of travelling throughout France, sat for a moment on the Mont Ventoux, and dropped a stone from his boot. This stone is the rock you can see in Pierrelatte.

This is how Pierrelatte was born : a stone dropped from a giant's boot in the middle of a wide plain.
